I grew up on pre-shredded cheese. There's nothing wrong with that, but when a newly married is trying to scrimp and save on her budget, there isn't always room for the packaged stuff. Plus, the cheese always stuck together in big ice chunks when I put it in the freezer. It was a real pain to pull out for meals.
The light bulb went on when I grabbed a huge block of cheese and decided to just shred it myself. What did the manufacturer's have that I didn't?
Even though I paid more at the point of purchase for that cheese block, I still saved more money in the long run. Go calculate the price per pound. You won't believe the difference!
Flash freeze to keep in freezer bags for longer storage, or in the fridge if you plan on using it within the next few days. Or you can just shred as you go for the ultimate freshness!
