HEADS UP: I’m heeding my own advice and taking a HEADS UP: I’m heeding my own advice and taking a break from this account.

I’ve felt the tug to step back and reassess what the content here looks like, it’s purpose, and whether it’s time to pivot or not.

I do know one thing—I’ll still be on Instagram!

I’d love to have you follow the brand new @brainbooklibrary account. Even if you’re not a member, I’ll be sharing allll the productivity and planning tips there that you can use with any tool. But if you’re partial to paper planners, you’re going to be in for a treat.

And of course, I’ll still be active on @openroading as we travel up the west coast and share what full-time RV life really looks like.

I hope to see you again here at some point. But until then, I hope to connect with you on those other accounts!

Thank you so much for being here. I APPRECIATE YOU.

Most of all, I hope you give yourself permission to heed that nudge if you’ve needed a break too. Clarity comes when we remove ourselves from the situation long enough to approach it again with fresh perspective.

Love you all! 🤍
I WAS INTERVIEWED FOR A PODCAST! I always assumed I WAS INTERVIEWED FOR A PODCAST!

I always assumed podcast interviews were for really important people that run multi-million dollar companies. Not for little ol’ me. 🤣

So I was extremely honored that
@dr.laurencook from The Boardroom Brain invited me to be a guest. We had the most delightful conversation that I know you are going to LOVE!

We talked about:

➕What it looks like to run a business when you battle depression
➕How to fall in love with Mondays (for real!)
➕Where to start when you’re completely overwhelmed by your to do list

…and more!

Grab your headphones and listen on Spotify, Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, or Amazon Music.🎧

I’d love to know what you think after you listen! ❤️
Have you ever waited over an hour to respond to a Have you ever waited over an hour to respond to a text? Or let a week go by without replying to an email? 📱

As much as you’re tempted to, you don’t need to start the conversation with “SO sorry for my delay.” 📣

All this does is perpetuate an unreasonable standard of responsiveness.🙅

Who gets to decide the appropriate response time while you are living your life? 🧐

Just because our phones are by our side 24/7, we don’t owe our undivided attention to them. 🧘‍♀️

In fact, I’d go so far as to say that real-life community and experiences are more important than our phones. 🌵

So when you hear that buzz coming from the small black rectangle in your pocket in the middle of a conversation or chore or work project, remind yourself that you don’t have to answer it. 🚫

You can get to it later. On YOUR time. Without an apology attached to it.✨

▶︎ Do you start your replies with an apology if you don't think you've responded quickly enough?

It’s okay if you skip a day. 😅 I know that p It’s okay if you skip a day. 😅

I know that permission slip doesn’t jive with the unrelenting pressure you put on yourself to maintain a perfect streak of habits. Because if you’re anything like me, the moment you “break the chain” is the moment you give up on that habit entirely.

I mean, I almost threw my journal in the TRASH. 😱📔🗑️

At the beginning of the year, I purchased a regular planner and turned it into a daily journal.🖊️

I'm proud to say that I kept this habit... for about 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀. Eventually, I began skipping an evening here and there. 🥱

Now, my “journal” looks like a puzzle that isn’t quite complete. I’ve already shattered my vision of me, next January, looking back over an entire year of memories. 💔

What is the point of keeping up with it now, when I’ve already missed so much? 🤔

Maybe that sounds silly, but I know there’s someone out there who struggles with this all-or-nothing mentality too! 👌

The thing is, we can’t rate the success of our habits by a “streak.” We can certainly use that data to see how consistent we are.🔥

But if we:

- skipped day 5 of our workout program,
- forgot to write down our daily gratitude list,
- or missed doing the Wordle of the day,

𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗼𝗸𝗮𝘆. ✨

We have to remember that 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱. 💯

What really matters is that 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 when you miss a day. Because 𝘵𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺 has nothing to do with yesterday. 📅

▶ Are there any habits you’ve been subconsciously applying this all-or-nothing mentality to?
I’ve never really shared this before. But the I’ve never really shared this before.

But the reason I’m so passionate about sharing organizational systems, productivity strategies, habits, routines, and goals is because they are critical to my own mental health.

If you’re new, you might not know that I battle depression and anxiety on almost a daily basis. I wake up never knowing which days will be good or bad.

And while I extend myself a lot of grace, I also don’t want my struggles to control me.

✨STRUCTURE ✨helps put the pieces back together when I feel like I’m falling apart.

That’s what I want to do here. To share the same topics I’ve been sharing for the last few years, but also bring mental wellness into the conversation as the foundational WHY behind everything else.

Because if I’m being truly honest, I can’t help but notice its subtle existence behind all of the content I share... I’ve just never called it out before because it feels really scary and vulnerable!

And yet, I’ve never more sure that this is the next right step.

Even if a struggle with mental illness isn't part of your story, we all experience challenging days where we're just trying to survive. You are always welcome here.

But if you’ve been waiting for someone who gets how hard it can be to do something as simple as take a shower some days, who knows you’re not lazy, and understands the need to balance doing hard things with grace and rest, I'm here to guide you in the right direction... and to help you feel a little less alone.💕

➤ If any part of this message resonated with you, leave a comment so I can meet you!
Does it sound a little crazy to bribe yourself to Does it sound a little crazy to bribe yourself to complete housework? 🤑

Maybe...

But it’s also effective. ✨

Wasn’t it Mary Poppins who said,
“In every job that must be done
There is an element of fun
You find the fun and snap!
The job's a game.”

We respond to incentives. So find the fun and reward yourself after the task is done. 🪙

But pick something that TRULY motivates you. 🏃

It could be watching another Netflix episode or reading another chapter of the book that left you on a cliff-hanger. Maybe you want to soak in a hot bath, go for a walk, treat yourself to a brownie, order delivery, or light your brand new candle. 🛀

Whatever inspires happiness at the mere thought of doing that thing, choose that as your reward. And see if you don’t get more done when you dangle the adult equivalent of a chore chart sticker in front of yourself. 😄
