I've never tried a homemade bread recipe before, but I'm a carb-aholic and I know it would save us money. I just didn't think it could be THIS easy! This weekend, I have a date with my new breadmaker and I can't wait to try the "cheats" someday soon, too! My kids are going to go nuts over #8! via @kalynbrookeco #breadrecipes #easybreadrecipes #homemadebread

During my first few years of marriage, I never minded the extra work of making homemade bread.

Kneading bread was my form of therapy.

Even after I received a bread-maker for Christmas one year, the work may have lessoned, but I still adored the process. Plus, when I crunched the numbers, it saved us a boatload of money…which for a girl who was still in college and a guy who was working two jobs to pay my way there, every dollar meant the world to us!

Fast forward ten years later, and homemade bread has become more of a past venture than a current priority due to our increasingly busy lives and it being less of a budget concern. Well, that, AND my bread machine finally bit the dust after using it so much!

But oh how I miss the hypnotizing scent of homemade bread, fresh from the oven and just waiting to transport me to a magical world where all carb-loving dreams come true.

The only way I’ll ever incorporate homemade bread back into my routine though is by making homemade bread recipes with yeast as easy as possible.

Like, throw-ingredients-in-a-mixer-and-let-it-rise kind of easy recipes.

If you feel the same way, then get your Pinterest boards ready for a flurry of new recipes, because I rounded up some especially tempting options for how to make your own bread that don’t take a ton of time and effort.

Two Time-Saving Tips Before You Begin

While the following recipes are the simplest of the simple, there are two ways you can shortcut any bread recipe to create less work for yourself as you make your own bread:

  1. Invest in a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment. This fancy tool does all the kneading for you! You can also let the bread machine take over the mixing and rising as well by using the dough setting.
  2. Don’t be ashamed to start with a cheat. Some of my favorite artisan bread making recipes start with frozen or refrigerated bread dough. You can still get that amazing smell with a lot less effort if you’re willing to cheat every now and then. 🙂

Ready to make your own bread?

All you have to do is coax together a few simple ingredients and a crusty loaf will magically appear in your oven, awarding YOU the title of domestic superstar.

In fact, making your own bread almost transports you back to the pioneer days where you’re completely self-reliant for growing your family’s food rather than quickly plucking it off a grocery store shelf.

I’m not saying I’d like to time travel back to that era on a permanent basis (I enjoy reading fiction set back in history, but ultimately I adore the 21st century convenience way too much!).

However, the basic skill of artisan bread making forces you to slow down in a fast-paced world and celebrate the little things…like a thick, steaming slice of homemade with a generous helping of butter at dinner or a sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar over the top of golden brown toast for breakfast.

YUM!
