WELCOME. 👋🏼 My name is Kalyn and I have a love/hate relationship with Instagram. 🤪 I love connecting and sharing and consuming on this platform, but I equally believe we’re not meant to broadcast every aspect of our lives on a 5 1/2” screen. 📵 So sometimes I’m here… and sometimes I’m not. When I do show up, here’s what you can expect… ✚ a peek into what real life looks like when you battle depression, anxiety, and OCD ✚ the tools and practices I use to cope (like healthy habits, life-giving routines, and my planner!) ✚ reminders that on the hard days, there’s ALWAYS hope, even when you don’t feel very hopeful right now. When was the last time you did something a little When was the last time you did something a little crazy so you could feel more like yourself? Did you… ▫️get a tattoo? ▫️embrace different hair color? ▫️buy a shirt in a totally new style? After daily headaches for the past few months, I decided we had to cut the hair. I really liked it long, but caring for my thick strands was more annoying than fun. So we chopped 4-5 inches! And also thinned it a LOT. This haircut and style definitely feels more ME. 😍 To be honest, I’ve lost a lot of myself in the difficulties of this past year. Who else jumps to the worst-case scenario? 🙋‍ Who else jumps to the worst-case scenario? 🙋‍♀️ And how many times has that worst-case scenario ever happened? Ummm, almost 🙅‍♀️ NEVER.🙅‍♀️ I once read somewhere that our brains interpret uncertainty as danger. That’s why we struggle to think logically when our anxiety levels are high. Here’s how to bring your brain back into balance. 👇🏻 Focus on 🟡 FACTS 🟡 over FEAR. I do this by playing out a few scenarios. ✚ The worst-case scenario (FACTS are especially important here.) ✚ The most likely scenario ✚ The best-case scenario But you HAVE to write these down so you don’t send yourself into a tailspin. You must pull these thoughts out of your brain and organize them on paper or in your notes app. Then… ⚠️ And this is IMPORTANT⚠️ List 3️⃣ ways you could cope with that worst-case scenario. Every time you do this exercise, you’ll remind yourself that even if this scenario happens, you are strong enough to deal with it. And it will help you feel in control. 💪🏼 But remember: that scenario is 99.9% not going to happen. Shift your valuable energy to the “most likely” and “best-case” scenarios because THOSE will line up more with reality. Let logic prevail.
