At first, I liked this phrase.

I heard it listening to Matthew McConaughey’s book, Greenlights and nodded my head as he shared a string of wise sayings. 

Then, I wasn’t so sure.

I mean, what’s so bad about working hard throughout the week so you can feel good about taking a break? 

🙅‍♀️ Nothing. 🙅‍♀️

But EARNING rest? That verb changes the dynamic. 

If you identity as a type-A go-getter, then you’re used to striving for others approval just as much as your own. And when you view productive days as good and non-productive days as bad, then the whole concept of “earning” rest is just another performance-based measuring stick we use to define our worth.

👉🏼In case you need a reminder, you can work hard and rest hard without one requiring the other, and without either reflecting your value as a person. 

How does the phrase “Earn your Saturday’s” make you feel?

They need to know they’re not alone.

As the days grows shorter… and colder, my depression and anxiety like to come out and play. So I’m giving myself a lot of grace (and comfort) during this season, while seeking out joy in the cozy sweaters, pretty fall leaves, autumn-themed reads, and Gilmore Girls. 

A Fall Activity Menu is keeping my spirits high this year and I’m finding *delight* in a season that’s usually full of struggle. 🤍

It differs from a fall bucket list as there’s no pressure to check things off! ❎

When your to-do list doesn’t feel doable, action verbs (or the lack of them!) are probably to blame. 

Maybe it seems silly to add an action verb to every task, but I promise your brain will work faster to process what it needs to do FOR that task. You won’t waste time thinking about what you need to do. You’ll know exactly what do from the very beginning!

Was English Class one of your favorite (or worst?) subjects? I have to admit I kind of miss diagramming sentences. 😆

The truth is… I still use a paper “planner” The truth is…

I still use a paper “planner”… it’s just currently inside a blank notebook!

I use this notebook for:

👉🏻 my daily to-do list
👉🏻 random notes
👉🏻 memory keeping (like a movie I saw or fun activity)

But for most everything else, @notionhq organizes all my projects and plans and keeps my entire life running smoothly.
